Securing our Future

As we say farewell to 2021, we have some significant challenges ahead of us in 2022.

You may be aware that Tauranga Citty Council (TCC) have undertaken a study on the future of the Racecourse Reserve - "The Maarawaewae Study" . Please click on the following link for full details.

Maarawaewae Study

Council have undertaken initial consultation with the Community, Stakeholders, Mana Whenua and existing Lease holders. The outcome of this consultation is a document outlining 7 Options for further consideration. We would urge all members to read this document and provide your feedback to TCC by the end of February 2022.

The Board of Management are advocating very hard for Golf to remain on the Reserve now and for the future generations to come. This means that we need to challenge ourselves to have a vision for what the course may look like in 10, 20 & 30 years time. The Board are  preparing a further submission which will focus on the following desired outcomes:

  • To retain an 18 Hole Golf Course on the current land
  • To secure a renewal of our lease which expires in 2039
  • To work alongside Mana Whenua to respect and care for the land
  • To work alongside TCC to support mutually beneficial use of the land - enhanced walkways, cycleways and community use of the land

The outcome of this study will be known in April 2022. We sincerely hope that TCC will see the value in working with us to secure our tenure and to play a valuable role in the future development of the Reserve. As members, we ask you to have your say and support the Board as we strive to secure a future for our Golf Club for many generations to come.
