The Club captain is the senior elected official on the playing side and should be selected on the basis of their leadership qualities and ability to uphold the rules and traditions of the game. The Club Captain should be an experienced player with a thorough knowledge of the rules of golf and tournament management. The Club Captain is elected by the members at the AGM for a term of 1 year, and has the following specific responsibilities:
- Chairs all meetings of the Players Committee
- Represents the Players Committee as a full voting member of The Board of Management (but may not Chair the Board of Management)
- Attends the Club on occasions of interclub competition and during major tournaments & assists on matters of tournament procedure and rules with regard to play as required by the Match Committee of the day.
- Ensures that the appropriate planning is being undertaken by the sub -committees for all Club Competition to ensure that events proceed smoothly & efficiently.
- Liaises with the Club Manager & Golf Operations Manager, as required on matters of finance, administration and staff support for competitions and tournaments.
- Liaises directly with the members of the Players Committee on a regular basis to ensure good communications between the various player groups and adjudicates on disputes between various player groups as required.
