Dear Guest, Wednesday, 26 August, 2020

ON COURSE

The course is in great condition considering the rain and amount of rounds being played at the moment. Our Greens staff are doing a fantastic job, so please show them your appreciation with a friendly wave. It is hard to tell who's who when they have their hats and headphones on, but we have:

  • Chris Posa - Superintendent
  • Carl Rumble 2 IC
  • Ryno van der Merwe - Qualified Greenkeeper
  • Mitch Kale - Casual Labourer

However, after 7 years as our Superintendent, Chris Posa is leaving us to take up the position of Superintendent at Pegasus Golf Club in Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity for Chris and his family to return to their home town & to advance his career.

During his time at the TGC, Chris has focused on continuing the successful Couch Fairway conversions and we now only have 1 fairway left to complete. He has also completed bunker renovations on holes 4,14,16 &18 and the overall upgrade of the 12th hole. The Board of Management would like to acknowledge and thank Chris for his service and wish him all the very best for the future. His final day is Friday 4 September.

The Board are now commencing a recruitment process. This may take some time so please support Carl, Ryno & Mitch through this time.

DAFFODIL DAY - FRIDAY 28 AUGUST 2020
Allow images

Our annual Daffodil Fundraiser is scheduled for - Friday 28 August 2020. A $10 Green Fee will be charged to all players and all funds will be passed on to the Cancer Society.

This "Green Fee" applies to members and guests. This is a great opportunity to bring along a guest at a great rate!

Let's join together to support this worthy charity.

Other local clubs are also holding a $10 Green Fee day, so if you would like to play another course, book in now.

PITCH MARKS,DIVOTS & BUNKERS

A friendly reminder - Please repair your pitch marks, divots and rake the bunkers.

It's your responsibility as a member to respect the course and your fellow members.

Bunker Rakes - please think about where you place the rake in the bunker. Don't leave it close to the edge of the bunker.

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Pace of Play is a common topic of conversation around the clubhouse. Too fast, too slow - they are both an issue. The Tauranga Golf Club have adopted the Ready Golf principles and generally, our pace of play is good. However, with extremely full fields on Saturdays, a general reminder to please watch your times.

We all hope that we don't have to take a formal approach to Pace of Play, but just in case, we now have a "Pace of Play Policy" - see attached. This is also on the Local Rules Board and under Members Documents on the Club Website.

If you have any concerns about pace of play, please raise these with your Captain, or if it's an issue during your round, please call the Pro Shop.

CARRUS TAURANGA OPEN 2020 - HOSTS REQUIRED

We are excited to be hosting The Carrus Tauranga Open again this year. Scheduled to be played - 8 - 11 October, this is a very popular event on the NZ Golfing calendar. Our top Amateur and Professional Golfers will all be competing for the title. With the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, many of our top players are based at home and keen to play.

The Carrus week is a fantastic time for members to watch some top quality golf and to get involved in the event. One way to help is to host a player or two. Julie Whittaker is our fabulous Billett Organiser, so if you are keen to host, please let Julie know - whittlj@kinect.co.nz :

  • How many players can you take?
  • Can you provide meals if you required?
  • Can you provide transport if required?

Most players will be very independent, but we do have some that need a bit of support with transport and meals.

Thank you for your support
