Seniors Update 4 June 2020

It’s great to see the turnout on a Tuesday at the moment and a return to some sort of normality even if golf form hasn’t quite come back for some of us.

We continue to operate under the Level 2 requirements of Covid-19 response. Our present no fee on Tuesday will continue in the short term be we hope to be able to return to raffles and prizes shortly.

New Members

We welcome a number of new members to the seniors group. Great to have you join us on Tuesdays.

Cart Sharing

Now that the restrictions for Covid-19 are easing, the ability to cart share returns. For those players who are finding the 18 hole walk a challenge, please feel free to let us know so we can schedule some options for you. This might include:

· Sharing with other cart users

· Cart hire for a reduced number of holes towards the end of play

We would like to facilitate play to keep you active and remaining a valuable member of the senior’s group, simply tell one of the senior committee members and they’ll give you guidance.

Electronic Cards

For those of you who have the Dotgolf App, there is the ability to save your score directly to the system which means the card skips the process of manually loading after the round. Just add your markers details, sign electronically and the card is loaded immediately. It saves the cost of a card and the printing associated with it.

President’s Choice

This is coming at the end of the month and the format will be based on teeing off with a 5 iron on all holes (or any higher numbered club) and carry on from there with any club of choice. Details on the day.

Quadrangular Tournaments

Both Mount and Omanu have been rescheduling the annual quads and we’ll have more specific information on dates later. At this stage we have August at the Mount and Omanu in October. A fun day to enjoy at one of the other BOP courses and to battle for the return of the trophy to Tauranga.

Club Café

The club café has been through a tough period recently and we need to show our ongoing support so they can continue to look after us as well as they always do. Buy a lunch on Tuesday or call in for coffee and a bite to sustain before you head out for your round. Every little part we play helps.

Tee Time Changes

You will have noticed that we have a start time now of 11.15am on Tuesday. That allows us a more tee booking space and helps us conclude a little earlier.

Tee Starting Number

With our draw being done at the moment with a random process, some players will be scheduled to play off repeating tee blocks. Until we get back to a regular schedule, you may find this repetition occurs. If you have had this situation and it concerns you, please tell the team at check-in and they can tweak the draw for you.

Seniors Sponsors Support

We all enjoy the generous support of our group of sponsors and they will have been through testing times lately. You can help them rebuild after Covid by showing your support and encouraging their ongoing involvement with us in future.
