Dear Members

The Board has been aware of members concerns regarding the course and particularly the greens. Part of the problem was created by an adverse reaction to a spray applied in the autumn which meant that the greens were in poor condition going into winter.

To ascertain the best plan to rectify the situation, the Board commissioned an independent report by Steve Marsden Turf Services Ltd, to assist our greens staff with the recovery. A full copy of this report is available to members on the club web site under “Member Documents”. The recommendations contained in this report will be implemented as far as practicable.

In many respects the report was quite complimentary regarding the state of our greens. It must be appreciated that during renovation week the greens were over sown with “Brown Top” seed. We needed to wait for two weeks before mowing the greens to enable this seeding to germinate and take root. Last week we were able to mow at a height of 6mm and they will be gradually reduced to their optimum height of 3.5mm over the next few weeks.

The Board appreciates members concerns, and we expect you will see an improvement as the spring growth gets under way.

Kind Regards

Graham Cathie
