The Clubroom's Race To Wairakei

It was unfortunate we had to postpone the second round of The Clubroom Race to Wairakei with the terrible weather forecast. We will combine the qualifying for the Senior Junior competition with The Clubroom Race to Wairakei this Saturday. As both competions are Nett it will work well.

Men's Junior Pennants

The junior pennant team headed off to Lake View Golf Club for BOP Golf finals day.
Fortunately for all involved the weather stayed clear.
So down to the bones of it, we came away with a 6-0 win over Mount Golf Club.
After the Mounties beating us in the round robin, we knew it was going to be hard,
but going in as underdogs definitely played to our advantage.
Heading off first, David Hill (One Tree) and Wayne Carter (Monday) got early leads and that’s where they stayed.
Wayne (Monday) answered a late call up Saturday night putting off a family day to play and win in the final. Both Wayne (Monday) and David (One Tree) have been instrumental in the team for the last two years - thank you guys.
Next off, we had Nick Helms (Long Nick) and Rowan Armstrong. Nick took an early lead and early finish wiping this match up 7/6. Rowan had a great match against a very steady opponent but took him out 2up 1 to play.
Nick has also been a strong team member this season and last. He has played well
in all positions in the team and gets up every time.
Rowan has been amazing this season. Rowan was originally a reserve but quickly
became a solid member of the team. Thank you to both Nick and Rowan for your time. Final two off was Max Ball and Alex Porteous.
Max came into the team to fill an opening and what more could you ask for from the
man? He was quick to stamp his authority on the match keeping a healthy lead right through. Alex once again got bumped up the ranks and didn’t disappoint. Alex has also played a massive role in the team this season.
Thanks to both Max and Alex, we couldn’t have done it without you both.
This season for the juniors saw a lot of the guys playing some great golf, therefore,
moving up a grade - well done to them. But we were never short of guys wanting to
be part of the team. Brian Brown played a big part with great wins and usually coming from behind. Unfortunately, he was unavailable for the final.
Those involved this season were James March, Shane Death, Matt Beverland, Blair Myles, Stumpy, Brian Brown, Alex Porteous, David Hill, Nick Helms, Sanjay Patel, Max Ball, Wayne Carter, Rowan Armstrong, and David McFadyen.
Thank you to all involved in getting us the win against
those Mounties - bloody
awesome!

Senior / Junior Matchplay

Just a reminder that the Senior/Junior matchplay is just around the corner, with the Qualifying round taking place this weekend:

This matchplay competition is played between two sides each consisting of 2 players (1 Senior & 1 Junior).

The Senior players handicap must be 14.4 or under, and the Juniors handicap is 14.5 and over. Handicap indices at time of entry will determine the division of each player, and thereafter handicaps current on the day of the match will apply to that match.

The course handicaps of each side will be aggregated and the higher handicapped side thus determined will be owed the number of strokes equal to the difference between these aggregates. These will be taken in accordance with the stroke allocation table published on the score card.

e.g.. Side A/B vs side C/D. Handicaps. A(8), B(15), C(10), D(18). Aggregate handicaps are 23 and 28 so side A/B owes C/D five strokes taken on the first 5 stroke holes).

A hole shall be won by the side recording the lowest net aggregate score on that hole.

Qualifying Round - Sat 27th April (THIS WEEKEND)
Round #1 - Sat 4th May
Round #2 - Sat 11th May
Semi-Finals - Sat 18th May
Final on Finals Day

Qualifying:

The Qualifying round will be held on Saturday the 27th of April, with the Top 16 Combined Nett scores making it through.

For the Qualifying round, you and your partner DO NOT need to be in the same group, this also means, if you would like to play this round in the afternoon and your partner in the morning then that is also ok. As long as as you both play on Saturday the 27th, before the last afternoon field tee time, your scores will be automatically paired up in DotGolf for your team score to be calculated.

How To Enter:

If you would like to enter this competition, find a friend who is in the opposite division to you. Please write your name/membership number/handicap index, along with your partners name/membership number/handicap index, on the form in the men's locker room, or follow the link below and fill out the google form.
