A Few Words from your Captain

Hi Ladies

It is good to have a long weekend to unwind after a hectic few weeks! So, to recap

Thanks to our mid-week pennant team members, & their convenors Anne Partridge & Jackie Reynish. We finished mid-field, but well done all.

Thankyou to the 12 ladies who represented our club @ Cambridge in our annual Interclub between them & Rotorua. Not successful, a bit cool, but most enjoyable.

Once again the weather caused us to delay another Wednesday competition. The events scheduled for 23rd May are added to those this Wednesday, 6th June.

Well done to those competing in matches. Make sure you keep an eye on those due dates, & get them played when it is fine!

We Capains have been asked to promote Ready Golf, & make players aware of the times shown on the scorecards indicating when groups should be on each tee. I know some of us play faster than others - but the social interaction after golf, in the Clubhouse, would be much improved if players did not lose ground.

On a Monday at Vets, it takes about 30 minutes for everyone to tee off – yet can take an hour or more before everyone is finished.

Some tips - please try to watch where balls in your group land, 'someone' get on the next tee & fill card in after, please walk to your ball & be ready to hit. There are many ways to speed up play, without feeling you have to run! Try to keep up with the group in front of you.

I welcome any suggestions, to solve this or any other problems you are aware of.

Winter is here, but I trust we can all enjoy some good golf – also exercise & companionship.

Pink Day - with breakfast & a fun teams golf comp … Held last Wednesday, it was a great day – the weather was brilliant, the Clubhouse looked great with all the 'pinkness'. Thankyou everyone – to the men who joined in, to Classic Cuisine, to the Proshop staff (especially Jim who made $300 in his special raffle), to others who donated raffle prizes, to Jayne for her extra assistance, to my fantastic committee, & to everyone who contributed to the day. Donations & raffle money (including Jim's) has amounted to over $1000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation. Mum's Gazebo was looking special with all the ribbons – thankyou all!
